We are hosting a Confirmation Informational Meeting this Sunday 9/17 at 10:30AM for all 7th & 8th grade students (and a parent). This is a meeting you won’t want to miss! Meet us at the Youth Room; if we need more space, we’ll move across the hall to a larger classroom.

ELCA Youth Gathering ‘24

Laissez les bon temps rouler!

Registration is open for the ELCA Youth Gathering ‘24 in New Orleans! This event is for youth currently in 8th through 12th grade. We’re coordinating a traveling cohort with youth and leaders from a few area churches to make a meaningful large group experience. Check out the details on our Youth page and touch base with Janet Hilsmier to discuss your commitment. FINAL deadline is Oct 1, so don’t delay! (Friends are welcome; adult chaperones will be needed based on headcount.)

Philly Soft Pretzel Sales

We’re looking for families to help us sell soft pretzels on Communion Sunday each month from October through May. Pretzels will be sold at the 10AM Communion Service which is on the first Sunday of each month. Please contact Janet Hilsmier (kidsconnect@stjameslimerick.org) or 484.868.1295 to pick your month. Proceeds benefit the Senior Scholarship Fund.

Apple Festival

The Apple Festival - an annual St James community event will be held on Saturday, October 14. This event features great food, fun games, a petting zoo, vendor fair and flea market. Income brought in from ticket sales goes toward our Mission Trips Fund (including the trip to the ELCA National Youth Gathering). We encourage our confirmands and older youth to be a part of this event as it will build relationships, serve the community and reduce future trip expenses. Psst it’s also good for service hours! God’s Kitchen Soup Kitchen

Did you know?

We have several members of St James who serve at the Pottstown Soup Kitchen on a weekly basis! Hosted at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Pottstown, volunteers are asked to provide a hot casserole or other dish for this weekly community meal. They set up, serve, clean up, and wash dishes after the meal.

This is a great service to provide to our neighbors. We’ll be looking to schedule several opportunities for confirmands and older youth to serve. Keep an eye out for more details!
