Sunday Oct 1: All Youth Fun Night
Join us this Sunday at 5-7PM for dinner, fun games and lively discussion! Open to all youth grades 7-12. Meet us in Fellowship Hall! Feel free to bring a friend!
Philly Soft Pretzels this Sunday!
Meet us in Fellowship Hall after service and get some fresh Philly Pretzels! Proceeds benefit the Senior Scholarship Fund. We’re looking for families to help us sell soft pretzels on Communion Sunday each month from October through May. Pretzels will be sold after the 10AM Communion Service which is on the first Sunday of each month. Please contact Janet Hilsmier (kidsconnect@stjameslimerick.org) or 484.868.1295 to pick your month.
ELCA Youth Gathering ‘24 - Act NOW!
$300 Deposit and Registrations due October 1
Registration is open for the ELCA Youth Gathering ‘24 in New Orleans! This event is for youth currently in 8th through 12th grade. We’re coordinating a traveling cohort with youth and leaders from a few area churches to make a meaningful large group experience. Check out the details on our Youth page and touch base with Janet Hilsmier to discuss your commitment. FINAL deadline is Oct 1, so don’t delay! (Friends are welcome; adult chaperones will be allocated based on headcount.)

Apple Festival
Save the date: October 14
The Apple Festival - an annual St James community event will be held on Saturday, October 14. This event features great food, fun games, a petting zoo, vendor fair and flea market. Income brought in from ticket sales goes toward our Mission Trips Fund (including the trip to the ELCA National Youth Gathering). We encourage our confirmands and older youth to be a part of this event as it will build relationships, serve the community and reduce future trip expenses. Psst it’s also good for service hours! Contact Bobbie Hoffman to see how you can be a part of this event!
Tickets for the event will also be available at the Soft Pretzel table after worship. Cash and card/tap/digital pay methods accepted.
God’s Kitchen Soup Kitchen
Save the date: October 16th 5:00pm
We’ll be joining our neighbors at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Pottstown to serve at God’s Kitchen. We’d love to have all of our Confirmands and High School youth join us; parents are welcome too!
The process: About 2 weeks prior to the date, a signup link will be provided. Volunteers are asked to sign up to provide a hot casserole, side dish or dessert for this weekly community meal. If you can’t stay, you can drop off items at 5PM. If you plan to stay, you’ll help set up, serve, help people carry food plates to their seats, and clean up. It’s a fast paced evening with plenty of work for all hands.
This is a great service to provide to our neighbors that makes a HUGE impact. We’ll be looking to schedule several opportunities for confirmands and older youth to serve. Keep an eye out for more details! A signup link will be shared within the next week.
