Problem Solving

“And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.” (Psalm 50:15, ESV)

ME: Jesus, I can think of one hundred good reasons why I don’t need this problem today!

JESUS: Aren’t you exaggerating a little?

ME: Probably, but the bottom line is, I still don’t need or want it!

JESUS: You have read that you are to expect adversity because you live in a deeply fallen world. I know you are well acquainted with these words. Why are you fighting it today?

ME: I have things I want to do and this problem is standing in the way.

JESUS: I have things for you to do too, and this so-called problem is not something I want you to circumvent. Stop trying to find your way out of it. You are wasting time and energy.

ME: But I cannot do what I want to do until this is resolved.

JESUS: Maybe you should ask what is on My agenda and try trusting Me more. For the rest of your life, you are going to come face to face with adversities and situations that are totally beyond your realm of solving.

ME: But that makes me feel helpless and I hate having to admit that.

JESUS: I know! However, it is exactly where I want you because it is the best place for you to encounter Me in My Glory and Power.

ME: I need to change my approach, don’t I?

JESUS: That is what I am trying to tell you. When you see armies of problems marching toward you, cry out to Me before they arrive. Allow Me to fight for you and see what I can do. I think you will be amazed.

ME: (sigh)…It is still a trust issue, isn’t it? Will I ever overcome this?

JESUS: That depends on how desperately you desire it.
