Praying For Others

They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” Acts 16:31

Are there people for whom you have been praying for years to be saved? People you want to know Jesus’ love for them, for them to fellowship with other Christians, for them to be able to forgive themselves & receive God’s forgiveness, for them to have the hope that you have as a Christian?  Keep praying for them because God is faithful!

I have been hearing great stories lately of people getting saved. People have been calling into KLove (the Christian radio station I listen to everyday) telling their stories of how God changed their lives & the lives of their families. People have been praying for years for them to know God & have a relationship with Him & finally their prayers were answered. Their making the decision to have a relationship with Jesus not only affects their lives but also the lives of everyone around them. I love hearing these powerful stories of God’s glorious work. I really love to hear about Christians that never give up praying for their loved ones.  God will give us all the strength to keep praying & keep having faith.

I was on the phone with a client one day talking about our faith & he said that he was in his late twenties when he gave his life to Jesus. He said the first person that he wanted to call & tell was his grandmother. He called his grandmother & told her & she started crying. She said, “I have been praying for you since you have been born.”  God does answer prays! My friend was so happy that he called his grandmother first. I don’t think that it was coincidental that his grandmother immediately came to his mind. What a blessing that his grandmother was still on this earth to see her grandson form a beautiful relationship with Jesus.

See the below prayer from Crosswalk.com. I will commit to say this prayer often for those who are in my life & those who come into my life. Will you do so as well?

Lord, I pray that You would teach me to yield myself to Your Spirit as I pray for the salvation of those who do not know you. Holy Spirit, teach me to trust You as the one who leads my life and my prayers. I long to see Your power in my life just as the Apostle Paul did as he reached out to the lost (1 Corinthians 2:2-5). I thank You that You indwell, seal, sanctify, and empower me. You guide me, teach me, and pray through me. Help me to partner with You as I use Your Word in praying for the salvation of my family, friends, and co-workers. Make me sensitive to Your promptings and teach me to partner with You in praying Your Word over those who are searching for You. Amen.
