Wherever I Lead
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 1 Peter 2:21
ME: Really? This is not what I wanted to do today!
JESUS: Listen to your own words. They are sounding a bit selfish. Try to view each day as an adventure, carefully planned out by your Guide—and you, My child, are not the guide!
ME: I did not mean it that way. I had been looking forward to today to get some stuff done and quickly realized that Your plan looked nothing like mine. I know what You are going to say: “Perhaps if you had consulted with Me first…”
JESUS: Yes, that is true. Instead of attempting to program the day according to your will, be attentive to Me and to all I have prepared for you. My plans are much more audacious! I promise you won’t get bored. You can clean the basement anytime!
ME: I hope so! I have to be in the right mind set to get into sorting through bins of old school stuff. Lots of memories are tucked away in there.
JESUS: Beloved, thank Me for this day of life, recognizing that it is a precious, unrepeatable gift. Trust that I am with you each moment, whether you sense My Presence or not.
ME: I know that is true because a positive attitude helps me see events from Your perspective and that is always better.
JESUS: You are learning! A life lived close to Me will never be dull or predictable. Always expect surprises! And stop looking for the easiest route through the day.
ME: I don’t do that…do I?
JESUS: I would not have spoken of it if it did not apply. I do not waste words.
ME: Will I ever get it right?
JESUS: Yes, My child, you will. Just be willing to follow wherever I lead. No matter how steep or treacherous the path may appear, the safest place is by My side.
ME: I can do this!
JESUS: I know you can.
