Back to School Blessing

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

Where did the summer go so quickly? On Facebook I’ve seen so many posts and pictures of kids settled into their dorm rooms. My friends are telling me about taking kids shopping for school clothes and supplies. And tours of new school buildings have made children excited and nervous about going to school.

One of the most important ways we can prepare children for school - whatever their age is to pray for them. Here are just a few of the things I have been asking for in prayer for our children:

They are safe from all danger.

That they grow in knowledge and wisdom.

They are affirmed in their gifts and abilities.

They are challenged in a positive way to see new possibilities.

Their minds and hearts are engaged in the joy of learning.

They form friendships that will bless them.

They form good relationships with their teachers.

They have fun!

Most of all, I pray they experience God’s presence, the love of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit every day.

What would you add to this prayer?
