A Private Moment
From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised. Psalm 113:3 (NASB)
A few days ago, when I went out to feed the deer, I watched the dawn of a new day. It wasn’t just any morning. In those moments, I was invited to a breath-taking beginning; the unveiling of a heavenly scene that is beyond my mere descriptive words.
This photo does not really do it justice because there were more shades of orange, deep purple, and blue. For those minutes that slipped by unnoticed, I stood mesmerized with the beauty of the earth. I was drawn into a scene where there was only beauty, no sadness, plane crashes, wars, threats of violence, or illness. No, not one negative feeling. I only felt His loving Presence.
The deer came close and reminded me of my original purpose.
When I finally collected my joyful thoughts, I went back to the house and told Michael of my experience. He asked me, “Why didn’t you take a picture?” Out of my mouth quickly came the words, “It was a private moment!” I am not sure he understood but he let it go.
A private moment with the God of all creation changes everything. My heart was full of gratitude and assurance of His love for me. That He would invite me, His daughter, to watch Him pull back the curtains for that magnificent sunrise gave me goosebumps on my goosebumps.
It made me wonder how many times He has sent out invitations for something special, but I’ve been too busy with worldly stuff. How much of Him have I missed over the years? Of course, we can always chalk it up to being in the right place at the right time. Right? Not this time! It was a definite, “Watch this!” kind of feeling that came over me. I truly wanted to stay and see more, but things quickly shifted and the cloudy light show disappeared.
My joy remained and I am eternally grateful for that private moment.
Loving Father, thank You for making Your Presence known to us. Help us to come to You with joy-filled hearts from sunrise to sunset. AMEN.
