Advent Craft Day - What You Need to Know

Our annual "make and take" event is on December 7 from 2-5PM. Children and adults make Christmas themed decorations and gifts; we feature 12-15 crafts each year which includes 3 pre-school appropriate activities.

Crafts are located in Fellowship Hall and rooms 4, 5 and 6 in the school. Please bring a shoebox or open box/tray to carry home your finished projects. Join us for caroling in the Sanctuary and cookies and hot cocoa afterwards! Bring a plate of Christmas cookies/treats to share! See you then!

What Can’t Wait? Advent

Counting down the days until Christmas is a long-standing tradition in our family. Last Sunday I shared a “newer” tradition we use called a Jesse Tree to read scripture and get ready for Christmas. Do you remember the count-downs you used as a child? Maybe it came in the form of candy hiding behind little cardboard punch-out windows or doors. Maybe it was a simple chain of linked construction paper loops. Or a tabletop calendar with pull-off pages featuring Garfield the Cat wearing a Santa hat. I remember one year my brother fashioned a dial-a-day count-down calendar using a wide-mouth tissue box, Tinker Toys and large stack of pinfeed, perforated computer paper my Dad brought home from work. (Spoiler: he grew up to be an engineer.)

Advent often gets lost in the rush to look toward Christmas. This year, we want to spend a little more time focusing on the four Sundays leading up to the celebration; we’ll focus on HOPE, JOY, PEACE and LOVE. You’ll hear about them in Pastor Chris’ weekly sermons. (Check out the ones you miss on our “Listen” page.) In the meantime, allow us to share an Advent Calendar that you can use at home with your kids; each daily task supports the theme of the week and more importantly, doesn’t require a whole lot of engineering. Feel free to pick up a printed version at the church or use this digital version as a reference. Wishing you a season full of hope, joy, peace and love.
